This place is amazing! The food is great, and I definitely recommend if you’re looking for some delicious fried fish. It’s good southern food all around, and military friendly. Lunch time is usually it’s busiest, but is well worth the wait. The staff is somewhat friendly but the food makes up for it tenfold. However, I do not recommend using a card of any kind. I’ve had two bad experiences total at this restaurant but it was due to one employee. The first time she forgot my order, and then gave it to a completely different customer who then took what she ordered off of the plate then proceeded to give it to me. I politely declined the plate and waited patiently for my actual order. The second time I called in a To Go order and was given my total over the phone, once I arrived I realized it was the same employee but gave her the benefit of the doubt seeing as tho she was busy and worked really hard. I tipped her for her politeness and then left happy and satisfied. Over the next few days I checked my bank account and realized I had been charged $10 more than what I approved of at Sam’s Southern Eatery. I then called to explain what happened, coming to the conclusion that I had just been stolen from. The manager on duty knew who took my order before I even described her, suggesting this wasn’t the first time. She then handled my complaint accordingly giving me a full refund and assured me it would never happen again. I still currently eat there, but frighteningly the employee currently still works there— which is the reason for the 4 Stars. I recommend using cash only, but I believe you should have a great southern experience.
The food here is southern Cajun served fast-food style. I had the fried catfish and my wife had the fried shrimp. They were both very good and I was surprised how fresh the shrimp tasted. Our sides included okra (excellent) red beans and rice (awesome) and coleslaw (great). We went there after dark, the building is not lit up and was a little difficult to spot. The people at the counter were friendly and the food was ready pretty quickly. The only complaint is the cleanliness, it is not dirty, just not really clean. For instance, the salt shakers had a film of grease on the outside and the floors had little bits of trash in a few places. If it was cleaner I would have given 5 stars.
We didn't eat there because most everything there was fish or shrimp. They had three types of hamburgers. I still want to try it but I have to be wanting fish or shrimp. A rather small place but set up nicely. Counter staff was very pleasant.
The store hours say they are opened until 9, so we went in a little before 8:30 figuring that would be plenty of time for a fast food restaurant to make our food. It was. Except rather than brought out on trays for a dine in they brought the food to us in to go boxes and told us to leave saying, If it 's after 8:30 we only take to go orders, no dine ins. Rather than make a big deal about it since we knew it was close to closing time we could understand that they didn 't want us just hanging out when they needed to lock the doors, so we took the bag of food and left. Though we did notice as we were getting in our car that the guests served AFTER us remained in the building to eat. Which seemed odd. But whatever. Once home, we opened the boxes to find that we didn 't even have our order (compare the ticket to the meals we were given) and we couldn 't even return to the restaurant to have it changed because it was now closed! I will be honest and say that I thought their fried catfish was really good. The rest of the sides weren 't anything to rave about and since I didn 't get a chance to taste the okra I ordered I 'll assume that it rates about the same. It 's doubtful we 'll bother eating there again, but if you choose to I hope it is a better experience than we had!!
