We came to 20.00 denied room service, offered to sit on the street, it was windy and cold that day. We waited 15 minutes for a menu, while a large number of visitors left the restaurant. They asked if it was possible to sit inside...again, they refused because everything was booked. Then they offered to sit inside at the bar. For 2 hours of dinner, no other visitor came. How shoud I understand this?! The staff doesn't want a visitor, they want as little work as possible.
We were going to eat at Le Pave d’Auge but found it closed for holidays. Stumbled upon Cafe Forges today for lunch and the manager owner couldn’t have been more accommodating, food was good, nice wine and great service. 50% of food cooked in...front of you on open chimney. Quite busy for time of year and mainly locals. Highly recommended.
I really dislike writing negative reviews, but in this case I have to, we managed to get a table on a busy day, but then waited 30 minutes for a drink, 45 mins to even order, very average food, paid extra for entrecote steaks which...were well below standard (children's steaks were better), My wife's contained more fat than beef and were cold when eventually served, also cold and overcooked vegetables. Lost appetite by dessert and couldn't face coffee. Sorry but a poor experience and we travel to France regularly. Feel a bit let down.
