We got the LAST available table on the LAST day of the season the Restaurant was serving venison. The Auberge 's reputation is well deserved. I cannot say much about the Dining Room location nor its deco as we sat in the Café area, but there is a lot to say about the friendly welcome, the comfortable seating and space between the tables and the service in general. The waitress attitude through the evening confirmed my pleasant initial impression when, after confirming my reservation for the Deer Saddle, she suggested not to have any Appetizer before the main course, the portions being rather abundant. It turned out to be a good advice; meantime that the Saddle finished cooking we were served a generous portion of mixed salad, and the two servings of the main course with all the typical accoutrements, made for a very satisfying meal in quality, taste and quantity. The Saddle was flambéed table-side. As I already mentioned for another establishment, that adds to the visual, but nothing to the taste. The venison was cooked as it should, not over, and juicy and the service turned out to be efficient and smooth despite the obvious stress that a full house induces. The wine list offers interesting suggestions for wine pairing with the venison. It is extensive, mainly Swiss, and moderately priced. There is ample parking around the Restaurant and the locals will help you fit in the spot you picked. The price we paid, all things kept in perspective, was well worth the trip. Overall, I 'm happy we had the chance to taste Chef Morel 's kitchen and will gladly visit the Restaurant for a different Menu in the future.
We were traveling with three friends from China and were looking for a good restaurant near our B&B. Saint-Claude's website offered no menu for reference, but promised local cuisine using fresh seasonal ingredients, so we gave it a try and were thoroughly delighted. There was no menu, the waitress rattled off the night's offerings with a big smile. The entrecôte was exquisite, The mixed salad was very fresh with a lovely dressing. The filet de perches, though the waitress admitted was from Poland, was quite nicely prepared. Being the asparagus season, we also had asparagus with morel mushroom and asparagus with salmon. We washed everything down with a bottle of Petite Arvine. Everything was great and my friends were over the moon with the experience.
We enjoyed a great family moment there. The terrace is really cosy and the dishes very well cooked made of local ingredients. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a family casual lunch or dinner. The perch filets in summer or the hunting menu in autumn is a must to try there. The price is also very competitive in the region
