We had a terrific server, Kayla, who was really attentive and friendly. Wed night = escargot for $6, and they are huge - very good deal. I found the sandwiches to be really well-priced as well ($12 for a chicken breast burger and side). Oddly, they don't allow you to have a side salad with your burger. You have to pay for an entire side salad separately and take the side offered (fries/soup/slaw) w the burger. So weird. The kids menu is pretty pricey considering there is no dessert, but this is a full size burger that arrived, so thats a plus. Fries were delicious. Overall, their menu is a bit dated and basic, but they cook their food really well.I would take my little guy back here for sure.
We chose to eat in the restaurant as we had been outside in the heat all day. Ambiance was very pleasant, waitress provided good service and the food ( chicken special ,pickerel fish and chips, Cape Breton chowder and calamari ) were excellent. Proportions were reasonable. It was a very busy evening especially outside on the patios therefore the kitchen was very slow. You had to have the time to wait. Prices were a little on the high side.
All my friends & I went to Gaffer's to celebrate a friends birthday...Our waitress Lisa, was FANTASTIC. Knowledgeable, answered all our questions, we asked & most of all she has a great personality. She made us feel at home, we didn't feel pressured, she kept us smiling...The food was delicious. If you want a great appetizer, order the shrimp done in garlic butter OMG, I could have ordered another order... The wine we chose, Lindeman's Shiraz, was delicious, full bodied & smooth. Décor was lovely. We all enjoyed ourselves...Would go back again, absolutely !!!
This restaurant is surrounded by both high level and low level outdoor patio areas. Great if you like eating or having a drink outside. Their clubhouse sandwich is the best I've ever eaten.
I live in the area and have visited for years.... LOVE the patio and stop going because of the music at supper hour....Talked to waitress/ hostess who remarked it's the bartenders selection.... Great music for later in the evening but at 6 with my family, kids etc you cant talk and the alternative music selection not approriate.... Inside the music can also be so loud its difficult to converse. So,,,if they can get a handle on playing the music loud enough for you to converse with others, the next improvement is portion sizes.... Four of us at the table, all ordered steak sandwiches and two of us believed they actually cut one steak to make two as our portions were that much smaller than the other two.... Dont get me wrong, this may be a management problem on not overseeing the staff. Another thing to love about this restrarant is that they are amiable to swapping side items such as a greek salad for the house salad, ( and it is extra but who cares, when you get the food you want to eat rather than what the cook thinks goes :) I would recommend this restaurant, as the patio is awesome and if they could get a handle on constancy with staff who work there and focus on the customers their rating would go up. There is other good restarants such as Roxies in Selkirk and Jonesys in East St. Paul that are also jewels and great dining....
