Start with the positives, our waiter was pleasant and efficient, and our bottle of wine was fine, We booked in advance and arrived on Sunday evening, the restaurant was empty, not a good sign, but we came a few years ago and enjoyed our food so we decided to stay, to be honest I wish we hadn’t, Starters came out very quickly, as they included chicken and calamari, maybe a little too quickly for my liking, they were passable, Pizzas were bland, too crispy and not how we remembered them from before, maybe one of the reasons it was empty, With our tastecard the bill came to around £60, had a much better meal the evening before for slightly cheaper elsewhere, Should’ve trusted my instincts and left when we saw how quiet the restaurant was, we won’t be giving it a third visit.
We reserved a table ahead and went as a family pre-theatre on a busy Thursday evening. From the moment our server arrived at our table her vibe was one of disinterest with an attitude that continued throughout our meal. A glass of coke had ice up to the top so after three sips, it was gone so we asked if we could have some more with less ice but were told that 'that is how it is served here ' and that she would have to speak to the manager. When the food arrived the pizzas had a lovely tomato sauce but virtually no cheese and the burger was dry. We asked for ketchup and it took nearly 10 minutes to arrive. So it was not a positive experience unfortunately. With so many amazing places to eat in London, we won 't be back.
Came here for a pre-theatre lunch on Saturday and was not disappointed. Our booking was at 12 so it was very quiet when we first got there (we were one of 2 or 3 tables) but it didn't take long for the restaurant to pick up. By the time we left every table was full but that never stopped the service from being great. They were just as attentive with a full restaurant as they were when we first got there. We chose from the set menu which was great value for money and the portions were very generous. I would highly recommend this restaurant and wouldn't hesitate to return.
We have been coming to fire and Stone for a good few years now and have always loved it. Visited this week and have to say wasn't as good as usual. Staff not as good or as friendly seemed a bit off at times and didn't know their stuff as well. Food was nice but nothing special which is a shame. Hope it's just a one off and not going off all together
