Hidden on the back of a restaurant without sign, you wouldn't know there was a lounge on the back. I was looking for a place to go when I saw the lists of new places in LA weekly. Also in LA Weekly she was one of the top ten romantic places. I am always looking for new bars and lounges in LA that are not necessarily in Hollywood or Santa Monica. I like the Los Feliz and the Downtown LA areas, they seem less crowded and offer a better amount. Being that its quite new does not mean that it is not already overcrowded. It seems that people have already discovered this place and travel messages quickly. The parking service, which is on the back, was commissioned at 10:15 on a Saturday evening. I guess getting fashionable late will not matter if you can't find a car park in LA. Luckily I found a great place on the street on the same block. As I mentioned earlier, there is no real description on Vermont except a folding word board that shows on the parking service in the back. We hesitated to get through the front what we thought was just the restaurant. We were not sure if we took a nice place with a small bar in the back, called Rockwell. The restaurant was very illuminated and looked like they had a small jazz band with singers on one side. I opened the front and quickly ask where the lounge was. Fortunately, we were in the right place as the waiter showed us right behind him in the hall. Not sure what to expect, not even from the pictures of other Yelpers, we have scattered the hall into an open night sky in the festive courtyard of Rockwell. There is a large tree with small hanging lanterns that create an environment scene. Although it was overcrowded, it did not feel like a typical hollywood elbow to elbow night. The crowd is a little jealous with the DJ playing Hip Hop, R B and Pop all night. We were also happy to pack two stools directly at the bar with good parking. It was fine tonight. In addition, they had my favorite Gin – Tanqueray Rangpur. The bar had a large, illuminated bookcase that went all the way to the raised ceilings. They put all their top blues together with wines on this shelf. I should have looked at her wine list, as I initially look at more wines. The drinks were good, except I noticed that we had clear plastic glasses. I thought it would be strange to use these unbreakable glasses in a beautiful place like this. The cool area is the lounge upstairs. As you go up the stairs to the open 2nd floor, it circles around the large tree in the middle. High tables with stools allow small groups to enjoy this big tree. Then back there is a small ramp that leads a private group area where the views of the Los Angeles skyline extend. This second floor makes this place an ideal date place. In the end, I'd come back here. It's a good place to get a small group. I'd try to park there early. And I would avoid weekends and try to go during the week. It was a good night in Rockwell.
