When we asked for a menu, right away the server snapped at us about them not having any food and that they didn't know how to take the food off the website. If we had been spoke to in any other way we would have been happy trying out new drinks and a new spot regardless of food.
a delightful oasis in downtown Louisville. Tiki drinks are made with both love and joy, and include classics and house specialties as well as occasional special menus. The space sprawls into a back room and large patio, seating many more people than one might guess. We were fortunate to be there on a night when the gifted Cedric was DJ ing and if there's a way to show up when he is choosing the music, I heartily suggest doing so. Note: if you enter and don't see a bartender, continue to the patio and you'll likely find someone there. This is definitely a welcoming space, and the welcome was wide and enthusiastic for everyone we saw enter. We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly.
They are going for a Trader Vic's vibe here, and they do a pretty good job.Drinks are all super sweet, but the bartender is willing to adjust them to taste. Love the little toys that come with the drinks.Service is a little slow, but they are trying.
Probably pretty nice. Though, I wouldn't know because the doors were locked during posted business hours. Went down the street to META which was awesome.Edit: Google and their website say they're open 7 days a week but their Instagram says they're closed Sunday and Monday....so mystery solved there. Went back the next day and the decor and atmosphere were nice. Drinks left something to be desired. Got a Mai Tai that tasted like Hi-c fruit punch. From what I could put together the bartender was either new or subbing for the regular bartender because she didn't seem that familiar with the menu or bartending in general. We'll try to swing by again to give it another shot.
I've never ordered a threesome or a foursome off a menu... and I still haven't. I love tiki bars and I've frequented the Limbo many times before. Last night probably wasn't my favorite experience, but despite a bartender who wasn't having the best night and an unusually unsocial crowd, the drinks were still delicious and the vibe is still very cool and a refreshing change from the sh*t show that is 4th Street Live (note the limbo is a long block south). I'll definitely return!
