We started off the day with a visit to Phosy market where we learned about different produce. Then we made 6 dishes: eggplant jeow, tomato jeow, mok het (needle mushroom cooked inside a banana leaf), fried lemongrass stuffed with potato, tofu laap and black rice coconut dessert. All the dishes were veganized for me and my stuffed lemongrass was fried first to separate it from the other ones stuffed with meat. It was an amazing experience in a beautiful outdoor space outside of the city.
We were really lucky to grab a table here, walking in off the street as we came shortly after opening. Others after us got turned away as all booked up with reservations. We got the vegan explorer set (300,000 Kip, serves two). See photo for what comes with it. The welcome drink was a seriously strong shot that we could not finish. The food was amazing and we enjoyed the variety and making wraps. The dessert plate was probably the stand out favourite. Although it’s pricey, we felt it was worth it for the amount, variety and quality of food, as well as the service
Finally a place where you can try lao traditional food with vegan options in the menu already. Food was tasty and the service was very polite. The place is pretty fancy and the price a bit higher if compared to other places -but still cheap. Plus, they offer a cooking class for 35$ where you have the chance to learn 5 lao dishes in their vegan version
We’ve been twice and planning to go again after being here for only 5 days. Vegan set menu is a definite recommendation- let them know you are fully vegan as the welcome drink can contain honey. The tamarind coconut sauce on the mango sticky rice is so good we brought for ourselves and gifts for friends. Such great value for money (expensive for Laos but not expensive) and lots of food. Other items on the menu are equally as good. Dipping sampler was also a favourite. Unable to give 5 stars due to app as it’s not fully veg but would definitely recommend to all! #Veganuary Updated from previous review on 2023-01-01
The one day cooking class is amazing. Despite being the only vegan in a group of nine they provided a menu and incredibly fresh ingredients for a wonderful four course vegan meal. The spicy mushrooms baked in banana leaves were amazing! Can highly recommend this activity.
