Bortell’s Fisheries - Ludington

The best seafood experience! Although it can get busy during the peak of summer and you might find yourself waiting, it's definitely worth it. The staff are friendly, the food is delicious, and you can take your meal to Summit Park to enjoy by Lake Michigan.

No trip to Ludington is complete without a visit to Bortell's on South Lakeshore Drive. They offer a fantastic selection of fresh fish including perch, salmon, walleye, smelt, whitefish, Icelandic cod, ocean perch, trout, catfish, shrimp, scallops, mussels, and oysters. You can also find smoked salmon and other delicacies. Meals come with half a pound of fish, fries, coleslaw, and drinks are available for purchase. The highlight is that you can choose the fish you want from the meat case, and they’ll fry it up for you while you wait! Right outside the door, there's a lovely shaded area with clean picnic tables, perfect for enjoying your meal right away. Today, we tried the whitefish, shrimp, and scallops, and they were absolutely delicious! Just be sure to arrive early, as they might sell out later in the day!

I stumbled upon this charming little seafood spot while searching online, and I was pleasantly surprised by what I found. Everything was fresh and incredibly flavorful. We'll definitely be returning!
