I had the whitebait which was tasty, but served with eight triangles of bread, followed by the sirloin which was OK. Should have gone for the goats cheese and beetroot salad followed by whole fish or pie. Mmmmm pies. Ringwood ales and the normal cooking and strong lagers. The outside garden had a marquee roof over it and there was a Mount Gay Rum bar and live music out there. Clientèle could have been in Devon. con: people smoking inside the marquee pro: great atmosphere, friendly staff and honest pub grub.
This pub is a bit of the beaten track but does get rather busy. There is quite a large courtyard by the entrance with seating for 20 people and then into a lovely character filled bar. There is a decent pub menu with decent prices and, my favorite, a beautiful walled garden. The garden is real suntrap in the summer and well maintained and comes with a big golden labrador. The food is typical pub fayre and is well cooked and presented. The bar has a good selection of beer, larger and wine. The staff are helpful and polite. Lovely place for lazy lunch in the sun. Lunch for two with drinks £25. There is also a covered tv area for sporting events.
We like to visit this pub having walked from Keyhaven on the sea wall going towards Lymington. It is a firm favourite of twitchers and yachties. You don't have to dress up to go there and dogs are welcome. It is a great meeting place for locals and townies. It has a large bar with a small eating area at the back. The summer is the most pleasant time to be there when you can enjoy the garden. The portion sizes of the food are large and it is very tasty. All in all a friendly atmosphere and you never know who you might bump into.
We visited this pub during a walk along The Solent Way. It is a bit off the beaten track but well worth a visit. There is a large courtyard by the entrance with plenty of seating. There is a decent pub menu with fair prices. The food is typical pub fayre and is well cooked and presented. The bar has a good selection of beer, larger and wines. The staff are helpful and polite. Also it is dog friendly for well behaved ones.
