O Portão - Funchal

Lovely restaurant with great friendly staff, we were seated outside as it was very warm, food was very good, Poncha was fine,we did intend to go again but ran out of nights.One not to be missed.

Wow, this was by far the best I had in Madeira. The bread with sweet potato was the best bread I have ever had. The muscles were just delicious and the scabbard Madeira style was just beautiful. I loved it. The waiters were lovely and friendly and I felt very relaxed. The poncha was indeed the best I tried (I tried a few). Well worth a visit.

We visited this restaurant on two occasions. Both sets of meals were lovely. The staff are friendly and there is a warm welcome.

Everything was delicious! The vibes were chill and relaxed. We started with the ham and melon which came on arugulawith tomatoes and passion fruit sauce. Then we had the Salmon on mashed potatoes with veggies. We finished with dessert. I had the honey cake with ice cream which had molasses drizzled on the plate. Dad had the custard tart with ice cream, and strawberry sauce drizzled on the plate. Everything tasted amazing! We sat outside and enjoyed the shade and cool sea breeze. We totally recommend this resturant!

Have visited this restaurant 3 times in our 10 night stay and every single time the food is incredible and the service delightful. They also accommodated for my 3 year old daughter and were friendly and caring towards her. I would recommend this is at the top of your list of restaurants to visit in Funchal
