Just try to avoid lunch crowd, rest early before 11:30. Or late lunch after 1pm. New carving station serving steak and bbq chicken. Big enough to share. Recommended.
Fantastic location for skiers to grab lunch. However, super disappointed to find half the food options closed during the peak of the winter season. The lines are thus really long (for the options left) and the food is just average (for the high price).
The food is 3 1/2 stars if you are just a person that doesn't ski/snowboard. If you ski/snowboard, the food and drink there is a really great refresher. My personal favorite is the clam chowder in a bread bowl. The soup in the bread bowl being only 10$ is a really good price.MY ONE COMPLAINT: PLEASE ADD APPLE PAY. I had an incident where I didn't have a credit card, and I couldn't buy the food for about 30 mins. Thankfully, the cashier let me eat the food and then pay after. Thank you to the person who let me eat before paying.(As of Nov. 26 the yelp page says that the place is temporarily closed and I don't think that it is. Should remove it.
Food and drinks are expensive and it's usually (non-Covid times) quite busy so you may have to wait for a seat. But c'mon, if you're here it's because you're taking a break while skiing/boarding in Mammoth. Not too shabby. Because McCoy's is located on the mountain you avoid having the overload of people that you sometimes get at the base lodges so that's definitely a plus. Another plus? Skiing down the trails ever so slightly buzzed after having a soothing coffee and Kahlua (or two) at McCoy's because ... well, because it's pretty awesome.
Just had the best experience at the outdoor bar with Bartender LoveJoy! Great hospitality and keeping great service even during these hard times of covid!
