Our go to spot in Mandeville. We always have great food with 2 or 22
After looking forward to dining at Rip's for months we were unfortunately very let down. We dined for a late lunch/early dinner and were very disappointed with the entire experience. While our server was attentive he was also void of any personality. We were there celebrating our anniversary and even though it was notated on our reservation there was no mention of it from any of the staff. The food was mediocre at best and mediocre is being generous. The shrimp was overly fishy as though no preparation was done beforehand. The asparagus was flavorless and the chocolate tart was like something you'd buy from the frozen dessert aisle at your local grocer. The bar was the only part of the restaurant that was busy so I'm confused as to why the food was so poorly done. We won't go back and definitely would not recommend.
Took friends from out of town and the 'fresh drum ' tasted like frozen drum. Not just my dish but my friends dish also. Oh well, stick to the friend food as they do a good job. The raw oysters were very good and drinks were good also.
This is one of our favorite restaurants in the Madison-Mandevile-Covington triangle. The view is unbeatable from the large porch overlong the Ponchartrain. The food has always been good, seasoned perfectly. Seafood or steaks, you can't go wrong. The staff has always been great and attentive. On this trip we had sautéed Crab claws and royal red shrimp (Excellent) Ribeye and shrimp, and key lime pie.
