Let me start off by saying, that the ONLY reason I have given this restaurant 2 stars is for the servers and ONLY the servers. Chez Cora 's has been a family fav since I lived in Quebec. I thrilled to see locations opening across Ontario over the years. I was a regular at a couple of locations downtown (still go! and in the last 8 years I started going to the Unionville Markham location (same Franchisee with friends once a month for breakfast. To say i am disappointed in my experiences is a HUGE understatement. Dining in, the orders take forever to come out. There could be only 3-4 tables and it still takes 60 minutes to eat. Take out is a big hot mess (don 't bother AT ALL! . They will give you condiment after condiment in your take out bag, but if a portion is off or not right they do nothing to correct it or make it right. They are set in their ways as others have posted, about following corporate recipes Wake up, clearly you are doing something wrong if everyone is having the same bad experiences! If you are cutting corners than re-train the kitchen cooks because there is clearly an issue there. I have had ice cold food, items missing, spoiled fruit. I would much rather spend double of what they charge and eat at other local spots like Hilton Suites brunch or Silo Grill. They offer way better value and quality for what you pay. I think this location needs new management because it is terribly run! No more dining in and no more take out. I tried over and over again like everyone else to be supportive of businesses nearby but i just can 't with this place anymore.
Very disappointed in this location. I have given them numerous chances in the last 18 months and each visit it got worse and worse (take out dining in when open).; i have been a huge fan of Cora 's for many years as long as I have lived in Markham 15+ years and not only has the quality dropped significantly, but so has the overall experience. The portions have shrunk, the fruits included are NEVER fresh. Anything with sauce that you would like more of you don 't get. Anything that requires a decent amount is drenched. It seems to be the same robotic response from management (Jordan) that they follow corporate recipes. How about what the customer wants? if I dine in and my portion is less, they happily top up with food or any sauce. If it 's take out , they just don 't care and just want extra money each and every time without even acknowledging the issue, or even looking at the food. They have VERY a poor quality control and lack of consistency. I feel for the servers that work there. They do a fantastic job, but the kitchen is terribly run and management gives out the standard excuse with no accountability or apology. In the last 4+ years of dining in, the food was taking almost an hour to get to the table and nothing ever arrived at the same time. No matter what time you are there or how busy it is or not. Cold food, no apology from the manager. Consider yourself lucky if he even pops in to the dining room to see what 's happening. Clearly it was a huge mistake to support locally with this business 7 8 times in the last 18 months. You can grab a better breakfast at several spots along Highway 7 that are much better than this one with better value for what you get and for what you are paying for. Lastly, don 't waste your time energy on their Loyalty (what a joke) program. I signed up in person with a server pre Covid and to date it has never worked. Funny, this only happens at the 2 Markham locations which have the same Franchisee/Owner Operator
This was our first time back since the shutdown. The experience we were offered was not fully inspired. I was disappointed that we had to get up and get another menu ourselves. Our selections, crepe omelette and pancake dishes were just so-so and not in alignment with the price.
I had a bad experience with this Cora. I had no idea why they put so much custard on a waffle (I only found out after I finished the fruits on top. Assistant General Manager, Jordan, said it 's corporate recipe and there 's nothing they can change. He said I should 've talked to the server instead. Hey, in this tough time during tough Covid time, I was there to consume and helped these guys survive! Can u imagine u brought this home to find out it 's a soggy waffle (instead of crispy and fresh) what can u do? Then my suggestion to the 'corporate ' is 1st u don 't need any AGM to bump up overhead if this position cannot take responsibility and being errogant; 2nd start promoting your recipes by counting overall health qualities (not just calories). Custard, which I quote below from a healthy life site ' Overall, custard is not the best thing you can put in your body, but if enjoyed every now and then, it shouldn 't cause any problems to your health. Regular consumption of custard could lead to weight gain and an increased risk of heart problems, though. '
