We decided to give Villa Capri a try when we passed through Marquette in our way to Pictured Rocks, and we loved it. We like good Italian food, and this cozy, nicely decorated restaurant exceeded our expectations. The food is obviously homemade with great care. The tomato sauce is delicately seasoned and the cheese raviolis that I enjoyed were a delight. I also had the minestrone soup, which was changed chock full of vegetables in a savory, rich base. The garlic bread is outstanding and the tasteful Italian music playing in the background provides a lovely lift. My husband had a thin crust pizza and remarked that it was the best he has ever tasted. We shared a rice pudding for dessert, and it was fresh, creamy, and subtly flavored with cinnamon and whipped cream. It was not overly full of sugar like some bad desserts, you could taste the ingredients. The service was excellent and the ambience is friendly and relaxed. I wish we lived closer to Villa Capri so we could dine there more often.
Nice place for Italian food. Three in our group had petite steaks and loved them. I had lasagna and it was only OK. Mostly sauce. Service was very good. The resturant holds a lot of people so don't be concerned if the parking lot looks full; you will probably get in.
The dining room has a pleasant atmosphere. The staff were kind and helpful. The menu has something for everyone. They have homemade garlic bread that is phenomenal. The minestrone soup was well served with a temp that would allow eating right away. The antipasto salad was delicious with the house Italian dressing.the food has an amazing homemade taste with an authentic Italian flavor. This has been my favorite stop in the Upper Peninsula this far. A hidden gem.
You can't beat the atmosphere in there it's all very romantic and the food is excellent. I always get a steak and some pasta on the side, the salads and garlic bread are great as well. It's a little busy in there so wait times can be long but it's worth it!
