Lela's Place - Medicine Hat

Although I grew up in Medicine Hat, I'd never been here until now which is strange, since it's the oldest continually operating restaurant in town.  What a gem.  This is a genuine local place, and you get food and service to match.  Unlike chains, this is the kind of place where the people who run it love being there and that really comes through.  It's not fancy it's solid, hearty and fun and the price is right!  $8.50 for an early bird special (7 10 AM) which I couldn't get through, it was so much.  Highly highly recommended!

On Mothers Day went in and had the best waffle in my life.!  Numm Numm This is nice casual place felt relaxed and clean.  Excellent service.

They make a delicious taco salad servedby a waitress with a dry sense of humor! She is hilarious! Fridays are Flapper Pie days! Love this place!

Beautiful small diner, great menu of traditional Canadian farewell, friendly staff and good prices. somewhat erroneously named the chocolate shop, this is originally a chocolate/malz shop due to the building and is now a landmark building! I think there are old black and white photos in the esplanade museum of children who gather here in days! the waitress told me that she has about 90 year old customers who met in the high school just on the street and since then visited the chocolate shop! very recommended.

Here for breakfast, typical little dinner. nothing special, but I'm a real idiot for such places. if they're here 10 o'clock before, they have an early bird special, that's cheap.
