Beer could have been colder. Busy. Hard to get waited on in a timely fashion that's with 2 bartenders on duty.
HOLLER SWALLER WEEKEND!!SHANE MARTIN BAND!Night was Full of Excitement! Can't wait till next year!
If you're in the northwest suburbs and need a local watering hole, the Stanchion is a solid choice. Just west of Maple Grove it is a place that is full of both regulars and non regulars on any weekend night. We venture here at least a few times a year and have a blast every time we go! Every Friday the whole bar plays BANKO at 9 and then moves on into karaoke which is always fun to watch. It seems like every evening has something fun, like bingo, meat raffles or karaoke, going on at the Stanchion and there's always pull tabs to play. Drinks are cheap compared to what you'll see at almost any other nearby location. Food is limited to Heggies pizza but Heggies pizza is really the only kind of food you need at a bar! Inside has plenty of space and tables. It appears they've done multiple DIY additions over the years that include a space for darts, party space and patio. Parking is plentiful in the dirt lot with overflow readily available if the main lot is full. It isn't anything fancy but if you're looking for a cheap, unpretentious night out with friends that includes beer, pizza and maybe some bar bingo or karaoke, look no further than the Stanchion!
The Stanchion is like every small town bar across greater Minnesota that any farm kid ever set foot in. Its a short ride from the city streets of Minneapolis but It's not a theme bar pretending to be Cowboy this or an Americana that. It's a bar where the bartender is also running the fry daddy, you can bs with your friends and just live your moment. It's not corporate and they do their best to make a living just hosting folks and being decent. Shop local buy local drink local and this iconic roadhouse will continue. There's pull tabs in the corner and a special every week. If you get out of line, the bartender won't throw you out but the other patrons probably will. On the lighter side my daughter and I ride out on the bike on a nice hot day get a basket of something and a coke and enjoy the AC and the good hearted folk who populate the tables.
