Hot Poppy - Melbourne

Good coffee, friendly service and a wide ranging breakfast menu mean this place is always on our brekky option list in Melbourbe. Good for couples or larger groups with heaters outside if its cold.

Don't stress about missing the breakfast menu it has all day breakfast. The halloumi salad is bit different but they manage to cook the halloumi perfectly.

Met a girlfriend here on a Saturday for lunch as they do all-day breakfast, which is great. It's a bit crowded inside, but they do have outdoor seating as well. I ordered the eggs benny while my friend ordered poached eggs on toast, and because she was pregnant, asked that the eggs be well poached and not runny. The gentleman who took our order made sure her request was acceded to, and our food came out quite quickly as well. My flat white was also good. Would definitely come back here as the food is good and not overpriced - plus you don't have to wait forever to get a table, like some other brunch spots in Melbourne!

We had lunch at "Hot Poppy" when waited our daughter finishing her job and walked around. My wife had haloumi salad with quinoa, capsicums and lettuce. I took zucchini & goat cheese fritters with poached eggs and jalapeño salsa. Both dishes were delicious. Maybe I would boil eggs a little bit less time.We also had very fresh squeezed juices: orange, pineapple & ginger and beetroot, raspberry, apple & ginger. Very tasty. In my opinion it can be highly recommended place.

I strongly recommend eating here if you're after an interesting twist on some stock standard café foods. The food was great!The service was pretty fab and I must specifically commend the guy who took our orders (6 different meals, no notepad, all our food came as ordered!)
