Most of us ordered ribs and some combination. The brisket was good along with the chicken. However, most of the people that got ribs complained that they were chewy. The appetizer was strange. Cheese and sausage with some peppers.
We had THE BEST SERVER EVER! I wish the food matched HIS exceptional service and attention to our family. We all really liked the vibe of the restaurant very much. It has lots of nooks and crannies. Kind of neat. Fun bar area brick and old world decor. ???? The bathrooms were relatively clean but definitely could have been better. ????All of us had decent food however, my husband's ribs, that he was sooo looking forward to, and are ubiquitous in BBQ cooking so it was ahuge disappointment for him to go to this restaurant on a recommendation, spend his money, take the time to drive our family into Memphis and HIS meal be a giant let down. No good. We all tried them. They were tough, tough, dry, chewy. ????That's NOT how ribs should be. Not sure if we will go there ever again. We shall see.
Loved the vibe of this palace. Feels like a speakeasy steeped in history with good food to-boot. Located off a charming alleyway and down a flight of stairs in a basement. Seems to be THR place to go for BBQ, specifically pork ribs. I am not super fond of BBQ? but when in Memphis. Despite this, I enjoyed my meal. The sides in particular (potato salad, coleslaw, beans) were fantastic. Could have spend hours examining all the eccentric artifacts lining the walls. Service wasso-so, but I?d still recommend this place if your looking for authentic BBQ in a fun/unique atmosphere.
We got in, at just after 5. We timed it perfectly. We were seated immediately and our dining area was empty but quickly filled in 10 minutes. We beat the rush of people coming from the Peabody duck parade. I also called about a week before. She said they seat 450. Call for reservations bigger than 5. I had the brisket and my husband had ribs. Everything came fast and was amazing. We loved the beans and slaw too. We had a great experience. Definitely will be ordering sauce offline.
Place never disappoints. Atmosphere is always lively and got there today before the Saturday rush so I was seated immediately at the bar. One day I'll try something new but I hit my normal order. Greek salad to start followed with a large rib order. That unique dry rub Memphis taste with some dipping sauce is just plain delicious.
