Hooters - Merritt Island

Ohhhhh what do you say about Hooters? The food is average and I always feel crappy when a guy wants to take me on a date there. I 'll go there to watch a sporting event but, that 's about it. My friend like the wings but they could use some more vegetarian items on the menu to stay current with the times. They do have drink specials Now I have to go back for the meatless wings ok....ok... challenge excepted :

My family and I ordered take out from here. The food was ready very fast so that was good. I had a burger and fries. My wife got the sliders. The burgers tasted like it was boiled. I ordered a side caesar salad. It consisted of romaine lettuce, 3 croutons and a side of bad dressing. I believe this was an up charge so that wasn't good. My little guy got tenders. They were hard as rocks. I had to cut in tiny pieces so he could eat. I get why people go here but have a little pride for the food.

We use to go here all the time and get take out, then go to the park by the river and eat. Love the wings and Fish sandwich. Always enjoyed going here. Always had a good experience when eating here or taking out. Haven't been here since we moved but its Hooters love their medium sauce!

So, I really wanted this to be a good experience ... I really did! Look at my other reviews, I'm not stingy ... Part of the bad here can be attributed to me if you like, I'll lay it out as honestly and unbiased as I can ... Background: A little over a month ago I was at a Hooters in GA were I got bad service and bad food ... The server was so late coming to check on me that I had pushed through five of the six rubbery wings and just asked for the check letting her know it was the worst food I'd had at a Hooters. It was the dismissal by the wait staff that eventually caused me to mention my experience to corporate, and I was sent a gift card to try them again. Last night: The server was sweet and helpful, other than spending more time talking to the bartender/kitchen staff than checking on my empty tea glass. I ordered what I normally would, 6-10 (6) all flats, extra crispy, medium sauce, with fries. She mentioned they had changed from a butter sauce to a vinegar sauce and could bring me a sample to make sure I liked it. I tried the medium and the hot and opted for the medium on the wings but used the samples on the fries ... speaking of the fries, they are different and weird but not the end of sanity. Here's my mistake: I'm allergic to bell pepper. Not cayenne, habenero,etc, just bell pepper. I've been eating the same sauce at Hooters for years, so I did not think to ask with the change of base if they had added bell pepper, if so that's my issue last night, that part on me. Everything seemed to be cooked right, tasted great, the fries weird but edible. But as I was finishing the last wing I had to spring to the restroom where everything came back up, while standing because the restroom was disgusting ... Back out at the table catching my breath I give the server my gift card and ask her to check if those sauces have bell pepper. She comes back saying only cayenne, to which I respond telling her that something in the food made me sick and what happened. She leaves without putting the bill back down and is gone for 20 minutes. When she returns she puts down exactly what she originally brought and says have a good evening and walks away. So I sat there sick from their food an extra amount of time for her to have a discussion I didn't need to remain there for I guess ... I start making my way to the door and a gentleman there asks if everything is ok and I respond that it's not, the food made me sick and everything I ate is still there but in the bathroom. His response: I wish she'd told me that. Sorry. And he walks away .... I loved the Hooters in Laurel MD, went there with my niece a ton ... I guess Hooters is now off my list unless in the dc area ...

We go to hooters 3/4 times a months. I usually have the slider combo and my husband has the boneless wings. For all the times we have been the food and service has been great, apart from one time about a month ago as this was unusual we put it down to an off day. We have been back serval times since and taken family whist over for the Christmas period, they all loved it. Great food and service and the waitresses are always quick to top up my Chardonnay.
