Honestly, I'm a bit lower, just because of a really weird interaction with the staff there. When you enter, there is a place to go to the hotel, and there is a sign that you can see when you go towards the restaurant. All receptionists checked in hotel guests and we drove to the restaurant by following the sign that seemed like what we had to do, as we were only for lunch and did not stay. A hotel receiver chased us down and the first thing he told us was that you need to relax and continued to betray us for about 2 minutes. Apparently, he didn't like us checking in with the hotel's reception. I should have been honest if we had no reservations and had been there for 30 minutes. It was only very strange - it was an honest mistake and if he had just informed us nicely, that would have been good, but he was very rude and it was very unpleasant. I usually leave stories about individual servers because you never know when someone has a bad day or something, but that was really anxious.
Ate there for lunch, has separate lunch and dinner menu the lunch had a few vegetarian options that could be turned vegan. Mostly beyond the meat and some pasta, average price is 15 16 eu, which is a little over the regular. Super nice and find place, we were of the view and the facilities, they make their own wine that amazing
The experience I had at sao bernardo is incredible. they created a fully vegan menu for me every night, so I could enjoy like all the others. there was not even an salate or an egg for dessert. they even made a whole cake for me (and gave it to me for my way to home the next morning.) the kitchen was kreatiw, innovatiw and high quality. they fully understand the concept of veganism. an absolute must if in douro valley.
We went for lunch and were pleasantly surprised to find a fantastic vegan menu that was incredibly tasty. The ambiance was also lovely and we tried their house beer, which was excellent. However, I was slightly disappointed due to an odd encounter with the staff. Upon entering, there is a reception area for the hotel attached to the restaurant, with a sign directing guests towards the restaurant. Assuming this was the correct path since we were only there for lunch and not staying at the hotel, we followed the sign. However, a hotel staff member approached us and immediately reprimanded us for not checking in at the hotel reception, lecturing us for about 2 minutes. It was clear that he was not pleased with us bypassing the hotel check-in process. It would have been more appreciated if he had informed us politely, as it was an honest mistake on our part. I usually give servers the benefit of the doubt as everyone can have a bad day, but this encounter was particularly unsettling.
We dined at this restaurant for lunch, and found that they offer separate lunch and dinner menus. The lunch menu had a few vegetarian options which could be made vegan, including dishes with Beyond Meat and pasta. The average price is around 15-16 euros, slightly higher than usual. The restaurant has a lovely ambiance and we enjoyed the view. One highlight was the fact that they make their own wine in-house, which was fantastic.
