It was well worth a little scenic drive and the knowledge of the whereabouts. We will definitely be eating out there soon as they are open again. We are not exactly sure why they are closed because of the lake being low maybe? However it looked beautiful out there and even though the roads were windy and narrow, it was great! 7-30-22
Awesome friendly service with a great view. We ate delicious hamburgers and fries on the patio as we watched the boaters on a lazy Sunday afternoon!
My family and I had heard good things about the restaurant from locals, so we decided to take our boat across the lake to try it out. We had our dog with us, as we had been told they were dog friendly. Well, we dock our boat at the courtesy dock and walk up to the Red Cove. Upon arrival, we see two employees smoking outside the entrance, one of which was holding a small dog. They see us and enter the building. The dog went in as well to the area behind the counter. What seemed to me to be the kitchen and management office. So, we go directly onto the patio to sit. My husband walked inside to see the menu and how things worked. My daughter tied the dog to the leg of our table and we walked in to order. While standing at the counter, the girl taking our order didn 't say a word about the dog (which I know she saw us walk in with him) but was very nice. I feel it 's probably important to some to note, although they show signs that say masks are required, the staff were not wearing masks, nor were they asking patrons to wear them. Anyway, because we had walked away from our dog, he started to whine. At this point, the young lady who I assume is the manager, comes out of her hiding place to abruptly and rudely notify us that dogs are not allowed on the patio. No problem, we walked the dog outside of the fence and tied him up so he could wait for us. The food was ready quickly and fairly decent, but it was like they were afraid to serve normal portions. While we were eating, we noticed our dog had crawled under the fence and was sitting under our table. Before we could get him back to the other side, the manager girl came outside and yelled hey! I thought I told you dogs weren 't allowed on the patio! We quickly corrected the issue, but her attitude was ridiculously uncalled for. And when she herself had a dog where food was being prepared, pissed me off immensely. If service/being treated with kindness is important to you, I strongly recommend finding another place to eat. Which is really sad because it 's the only place on the lake you can access by boat.
So the whole idea was to spend some time in Lake Medina. Turns out it's the most private lake ever. Correct me if I'm wrong, there is no public access to the lake other than through the Bandera State Park. So we went to the park (got there around 2 PM on Labor Day Weekend) only to find it at maximal occupancy already. We finally found this tiny restaurant that's directly facing the lake. Tried their grilled cheese and fries. Really bad, especially the fries. So go here for the view if you don't get park entry!
The absolute worst customer service you can imagine. Especially the old woman. She is beyond rude and will berate you for the most insignificant things . It's unfortunate people have to be that way.
