We both enjoyed dumplings, ackee with salt fish, callaloo with salt fish (with generous amounts of fish in each dish), and rice and peas. The food was fresh and delicious, and compared well to similar dishes at other restaurants. The service was friendly, our food was served hot, and the server even happily made me a cup of tea, despite it not being a usual request. The restaurant was clean and inviting, with ample seating for us and our pram. We were pleasantly surprised by the reasonable bill total and will definitely be returning in the future.
I absolutely love this restaurant. It brightens my day every time I walk past it on my way to football. The exterior is appealing, but it seems like there are never any customers inside.
2 LAZY employees sat around doing nothing, the worst customer service, have too much to say need to just be quiet and serve the food. Besides, their curry goat is dry anyway and the jerk chicken is below average. Won't be going back...
I have bought food from here before and it was bad then, but it's worse than ever before. The jerk chicken sauce is made up of ketchup and hot pepper sauce. The curry goat lacked in flavours of curry or goat, in fact it lacked of taste of any kind. There was hardly any meat in the box as it was filled with rice instead and there was no gravy from the goat on the rice, so it was all dry as a bone. I will never go back there, the service was as bad as the food. what she lacked in smiles, she made up for in attitude. If this restaurant was in London or any other area where caribbean people live they'd be run out of town with plastic knives and forks. Not Caribbean food people!!!
This restaurant, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Ipswich's center, offers a laid-back dining experience with a hidden gem vibe. While it may take a little extra effort to reach as it is located on Norwich Road, the walk is worth it. During a previous visit with friends, we enjoyed delicious takeout featuring dumplings, salt fish, jerk chicken, rice and peas, and curried fish. The dishes were fresh, satisfying, and we were tempted by the curried goat although they had run out. Despite not having the chance to revisit yet, I highly recommend this spot to any Caribbean food lovers.
