Michael's Charcoal Grill - Midland

Fun atmosphere especially if you 're a fan of aircraft (my dad was a helicopter pilot). I 've been coming to Michael 's since, oh, the days when they had a different location. Had a kid 's birthday party in their private room it was wonderful fun. They have a sparkly clean salad bar, and absolutely the best burgers I 've had anywhere in the U.S. (and I 've been to every state). Nowadays I 'm gluten free and staying at home covid free (may that continue) so I drop by and order a bunch of patties, no bun, no nuthin else, just take them home and dress them as I like. My son recently visited from Austin, shared the latest batch with me and said, 'I 'd forgotten how good they are. ' Thanks, Michael 's, for years of great burgers.

As others mentioned, this place is pricey. You can easily make a $30 burger if you get the extra toppings at $2/piece. Near the salad bar there are excellent free toppings like salsas, pico, jalapeños, peppers, onions, etc. Personally I’d skip any premium toppings except cheese and go for the free toppings there. Then the burger/sandwich price isn’t terrible. The sandwich portion sizes are huge. I had the grilled chicken and it was juicy with a great grilled flavor. The onion rings were good, but maybe I missed the memo on why they were the best thing. They were just good. The place was clean and there were lots of workers cleaning tables, picking up plates, and keeping the salad bar clean. The person that took our order was very nice and helpful. Food didn’t take long ~8 minutes on a not busy day) and tasted very fresh.

Love the old classic diner feel of this place, but love the food and people even more. They never fail to be kind and helpful, and many of the staff make a specific effort to remember those of us who eat here regularly! The food is consistently delicious too. The biggest praise is that they are real people, who make efforts to adapt the menu items to your specifications, whenever possible. Great place.

Pretty cool place, airplanes models everywhere. If you love aircraft you'll enjoy sitting in here and looking at all the pictures and stuff while you eat. Big burgers too
