We went as a table of 8 and ordered the following items: Kothimbir Vadi: The outside was breaded in rava(? or something else to give a crispy cutlet style taste Sabudana Vadi IndoChinese Bhel: Could have been better. Misal Pav: Have had better elsewhere. They did not toast the pav or slice it. Just gave two pull apart bread (pav . This was one of the better items here. Paneer frankie: Tasted like paneer tikka, but not in a good way. Manchurian frankie Cheese: This was one of the better items here. Sev puri sandwich: Loved the crunch of the sev puri the taste of a sandwich. Imho the best of what we ate. Bombay Sandwich: Average. Sugarcane Juice: Don’t waste your money. The food on the menu was predominantly Indian street food and perfect for a light snack/dinner. The best items were the Misal Pav, Sev Puri Sandwich, Manchurian Frankie and the kothimbir vadi. Service: They have ample benches and outdoor tables to sit at. Outdoor dining is self serve and they only provide takeout containers and plastic/cardboard plates and not what you would expect in a typical restaurant. This made it less ideal to share bite sized snacks with others. Would not recommend the “fresh sugarcane juice”, it tasted like hajmola pani and was barely sweet. They take a long time to prepare food on crowded days I overheard a person saying they waited for an hour. Even we waited for more than 40 mins. Overall, a good place to satisfy your Indian chaat cravings.
Annapoorna is a well lit restaurant with good ambience. They offer good variety and tasty, flavorful items on their menu. We tried these items as a group: Sabudana Vada: It was decent. The yogurt side offered with it was very good. Kothimbir Vadi: Looked like a cutlet, but it was pretty tasty. Went well with the green chutney offered on the side. Manchurian Frankie: Super tasty. Loved the flavor. We asked for extra cheese on it, and loved how the cheese blended well with the Frankie. Bombay Paneer Frankie: It was kinda average, to be honest. There was a to of curry in the Frankie (which is great by the way! , but the paneer gravy inside the Frankie was tangy and had a tikka masala style taste. Indo Chinese Bhel: Probably the worst item we ordered. It was sweet. None of us liked this item. Chilli Chese Toast: It was decent, but seriously where was the Chilli in the sandwich? : We had requested for some chili sauce since we expected it to be spicy and found it to be too sweet, but they mentioned they don 't offer anything extra on the side. Sev Poori Sandwich: Super tasty. The crispiness of the poori inside the sandwich was an interesting blend. Totally loved it! Service: They could really improve here. We ordered around 9 pm and it took ~40 50 minutes for us to get the order. They could really improve here.
One of the best spots for Indian cuisine in the San Jose and Milpitas area. All the snacks were spot on and delicious. We tried the following dishes: Dahi Puri, Kachori Chaat, Vada Pav, Aloo Tikki Chaat, Misal Kolhapuri, Paneer Frankie, and Kokum. Everything was fantastic! I would say the Kachori Chaat was a bit underwhelming, but aside from that, we enjoyed everything else.
- Pav Bhaji: 10/10 - Misal Pav: 10/10 - Dabeli: 10/10 - Samosa Chat: 9/10 - Paratha: 9/10 - Raj Kachori: 10/10 The Dabeli was the best I've ever had!
