The mains, priced at £12.50, were delicious. It took about 25 minutes for our food to arrive, but we didn't mind as everything is cooked fresh and done properly. We enjoyed a relaxing time with Doom Bar, priced at £4.80 per pint. The room was basic and a bit small, but it was clean and had everything we needed including a good shower, comfortable bed, and tea, coffee, and biscuits. The bathroom was spotless. Usk is a lovely town with beautiful riverside walks. Overall, this place offers great value for money and a pleasant stay. We would definitely give it five stars. Thank you for making us feel so comfortable.
My friends and I needed a break after exploring Usk in the rain, and this restaurant was just what we were looking for. The food was affordable, and while the drinks were a bit pricey, they weren't too expensive. We even got to watch Argentina beat Australia in a live rugby union match on Sky on the big screen. I would definitely stop by again, as the owner and their lovely cook showed us great hospitality.
I stayed overnight at this unique little pub. Some parts of the pub are listed as Grade 1 historical sites and date back to 1350. My room was spacious and simple, with its own bathroom. The ceiling had Tudor plasterwork, and the room was impeccably clean with a comfortable bed. Nicola, the owner, is a delightful lady who is very talkative. I have already booked my next stay in a few weeks' time.
We went in for early evening meal at 6pm yesterday evening. The pub was not busy but we still had to wait for more than 30 minutes for food. I had medical condition and can drink water only. I asked for a mug of warm water and my husband joined me. When we paid the bill we were told they charged £1 per mug of water. No to say nowhere would charge people for drinking water only. Even if this pub usually charge for that they should have mentioned it to guests beforehand as that was not mentioned on the menu or anywhere at their place. It was the first time we have been asked for paying for plain water.
After a short stroll through this lovely village we decided on this very homely pub for a snack/drink and ended up spending several hrs in this place. Not entirely sure what the previous reviewer is talking about but we found nothing but welcoming vibes. Food is fine, beer is cold, staff are friendly. What more do you want?
