It's good sign when they ask for your menu choices the day before as everything was so fresh and prepared meticulously. What a difference to the usual these days. Not expensive, either. Highly recommended.
We are thoroughly enjoying our experience at Parva Farmhouse, a perfectly located and charming place. We were warmly greeted and given a tour of the property. The room is spacious and comfortable, and interacting with other travelers has been enjoyable. The convenience of having meals on-site has worked well for us, and the food was delicious. The staff is friendly and interested in our background and travel plans. Overall, it has been a wonderful time. I would definitely choose to stay here again on my next trip to Wales.
We went to the restaurant for dinner and were required to pre-order our food the day before when they sent us the menu via email. The restaurant is small but clean. The food was outstanding, beautifully presented and expertly cooked. Our group of 10 ordered a variety of dishes from the menu and everyone had a fantastic dining experience. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the service was excellent. The prices were also reasonable. Overall, we had a wonderful evening at Tintern!
We were staying at this lovely privately run hotel on this mini break in Tintern. We had reserved a table for dinner on this our second and final night of this mini break. We had taken a pre-dinner glass of wine on the resident’s lounge; my Partner had an excellent Crémant which was very much enjoyed. I can take or leave any fizzy wine, so I ordered what I recall being an Italian Rosé or blush, sadly this was almost devoid of any flavour and very thin. Some may like those ‘qualities’ in a wine, but I prefer more fruit flavour with a dry finish. Other than that we had a very fine dining experience. The wine with meal: Fiano (grape variety from Puglia, Italy). Fresh, vibrant with melon and citrus fruit on the palate. Brilliant choice I have to say (yes … it was my choice). To start: (for both of us) ‘Beef Brisket’ accompanied by a home-baked soft roll and butter. This brisket was so tender with an incredibly rich savoury sauce, served with a small side coleslaw and sliced pickled gherkins. I could have sat and eaten this again, and again, and … Mains: for my Partner it was the ‘Sliced Pork Loin’ with a sausage-meat pastry roll, pork stuffing balls, spring greens, mashed potato, apple sauce and pork jus. For myself it was the: ‘Fillet of Cod’ in a herb crust, served with roast red peppers and asparagus, with a very rich dark fish sauce. Both plates were exceptional with the cod being really firm and fresh. Desserts: (for both of us) ‘Rhubarb strudel’ with ginger ice cream and a little crème anglaise. Heaven on a plate, especially for me, as rhubarb is a favourite dessert for me. Service from owner Marta was perfect in every way, and the Chef Roger is truly a fine example of his profession. Loved the occasion and appreciated the attention to detail, and special thanks for removing the octopus from the fish sauce.
We have eaten at this lovely restaurant a number of times. The food is always delicious with really unusual menu choices, they offer great wine and the service is warm and friendly and unrushed. Can't recommend highly enough look forward to returning.
