I was a little nervous to try her as I was the only vegan in our party and I knew her menu was limited, but I was pleasantly surprised. the waitress we had was very familiar with vegan and happy showed me what the dings were vegan or could be made easily vegan (what was a lot, but more than I thought from the menu online. I finished the vegan version of the scramble (see picture I uploaded and it was fantastic. my non-vegan partner also loved her court (I forget what she got, something iron, maybe and my friends also liked her. Some disadvantages: montpelier is a small city (not many places to eat, and this restaurant is just a few steps of tiny (you may have 10 tables a bar, so we ended waiting for at least 45 minutes to sit. they do not take any reservations and wt is cold, so dress them warm and ready to window shop near, while waiting and do not come to starving. that said this place is very cute, interesting decor and personal was very friendly and I would like to eat there again on my next visit. It was possibly the best vegan meal I had in 2015; the sweet was so delicious and fresh.
Kismet catered our recent wedding reception, and the food, which is the most important thing, was absolutely fabulous. We especially loved the polenta with vegan cream sauce, the roasted tomatoes, and the utterly delicious bread. Everything came with clear serving instructions (although not enough Sterno we had to make an emergency trip to get more). The meal also featured stuffed eggplant, roasted garlic, roasted squash, stuffed grape leaves, and spinach salad with cranberries, walnuts, and a maple mustard dressing. Everything was great in taste and appearance. We also rented dishes, flatware, and table linens from Kismet. The dishes were not clean when we got them, so the bride ended up doing dishes the morning of the wedding. Also, the cloth napkins were so stained that we had to ask friends to make an emergency store trip to pick up paper napkins. These two issues added unnecessary stress to a day when it was certainly not needed. Another word of caution: Kismet does not accept credit cards. We were surprised that this wasn't mentioned to us earlier, since it's virtually unheard of in business these days. We were having friends pick up the food, which was a hour's drive away on icy roads, so this was another crisis. Kismet was not willing to accept PayPal or a wire transfer, and we ended up having our friend pay for the food to be reimbursed by us later.
My wife and I ate here last weekend and were very impressed. We are vegetarian and many options to choose from. The cocktails were creative and each part of the meal was cooked for perfection. It was also clear that everything was made from scratches, from pasta dough on Agnilotti to chocolate, whip cream and crawl in a truffle pot. Very recommended!
Best breakfast I ever had!! Service. The carpaccio benedicts and fingerlings potatoes were delicious! Can't wait to go back. Merci!!
Fantastic little restaurant near the State Capital. They unlocked the door to let us wait inside as it was about 2 degrees outside and we were a little earlier than expected which was greatly appreciated! Staff is very friendly and seemed to know about three quarters of the guests that arrived on a saturday morning. Nice casual and almost homey atmosphere. Food was excellent I had the sausage and biscuits which was enough that I couldn't even finish the whole thing, had an interesting flavor to it as well that made it stand out in a good way! Will definitely go back here when I am in the area and in need of a delicious meal that is locally sourced and very filling.
