I was recommended this restaurant as a throwback to old Montreal before property prices skyrocketed and food and coffee became pretentious. It definitely lived up to its reputation. The menu is concise but offers a variety of options at reasonable prices. The furniture is made from reclaimed wood and the atmosphere is laid-back. Although not required, it seems like having an Apple Mac is pretty standard here. I had a bowl of vegetarian chili which was excellent, followed by a decaf coffee that was one of the best I've ever had. The highlight was the mellow jazz playing in the background from a high-quality sound system at a low volume. I was informed that live jazz is featured most nights, so I will definitely be returning soon.
Great service very accommodating. Amazing nachos, chili had great layers of flavor, not too spicy. All washed down with a pint.
I go there once in a while and I never know what to expect. The food is good, the place very casual and they prepare great capuccinos with homemade coco almond milk. The quality of service varies according to whose shift it is. I have experienced very long waits while staff are engaged in never ending discussions on wordly matters and moving their food orders at a turtle's pace. Also experienced having a coffee served to me with a big spill on the table here's your $5 capuccino and waiter is gone and never comes back to clean up the mess. I keep going back in spite of everything, so there must be something I like about the place overall.
This is, as has been mentioned, a great hidden gem , honestly, a great vibe, excellent food and staff, and the jazz on the night we went was also en pointe. Will return!
