Mon Shing - Montréal

We decided to visit this restaurant after seeing a sign advertising a $6.95 lunch special. However, when we arrived, we were initially presented with a menu that did not include any lunch specials. After requesting the lunch menu, we found that only two items were actually priced at $6.95. The Cantonese chow mein did not meet our expectations compared to restaurants in Toronto, but the shrimp with lobster sauce and the river noodle with black bean sauce were enjoyable. We would not recommend the sesame beef as it was too tough. The dishes we ordered ended up being $8.95 and came in small portions. Overall, the experience left us feeling somewhat suspicious.

I decided to stop by this restaurant for some Chinese food on a cold Winter day. I knew that there was a great Chinese bakery across the street where I could get dessert. I ordered the peanut butter dumplings which were delicious, followed by shrimp fried rice as a base for the Thai duck dish. Unfortunately, the rice was lukewarm and the Thai duck lacked the heat I was expecting. Some portions of the duck were also overdone. Overall, I was disappointed with my experience and don't think I will be returning.

I had a rather disappointing experience at this restaurant. While it has the potential to be good, the service on a quiet Sunday was lacking. Teenagers were running the show and it was evident in their lack of attention to customers. They were more focused on their phones than on their jobs. My order was mixed up, no water was provided, and the food arrived cold with overcooked noodles. I would recommend looking elsewhere for a better dining experience.

It was Labor Day and most eateries and businesses was closed. This restaurant was opened but did not offer their lunch special due to the holiday. We had the seafood fried rice. The food was very tasty, not too spicy.

Always go to this restaurant when in Chinatown. Never disappointed. Salt n pepper squid is my favorite. Peanut butter dumplings are fab. Lots of different plates to choose. Service is good. Enjoy. Sorry no picture, we were hungry and ate.
