Have you ever had a culinary experience that was so satisfied that you want to go to the parking and screaming, “Oh my Gawd! You must try this place!” Me and I... After eating in Oya Sushi, not only did I send text pictures of my meal to three people and told two mothers to pick up at school before I left the parking lot, I went gleefully to an older woman who cut her hair. “You have to try Oya Sushi. You must.” “I get my haircut,” she said. “I don’t like sushi.” “A ha!” I blew. “It’s more than just sushi.” And that was it. A culinary experience. Let me first say I'm not one for visiting this dart and go international cuisine places I thought was Oya Sushi. And I'm not one to dine in a place that's a take-out joint. While Oya is small and has few tables, there is table service. It's like I'm going to your uncle's house for dinner. During my visit there were two employees, both men, both pleasant, and both not only the servers, but also the chefs. They are proud of what they do and love what they do and that is visible in the taste of food. We got a free bowl of soup. If you think everything's like that, you have to try it, it was great. My lunch friend is not a sushi person, but she was excited to see something called Kimchi Burger. None of us knew what it was, so she kind of ordered it. She said it melted in her mouth, boiled for perfection, filled with cheese and served with homemade frits. It is a burger with Veggie inside. Because I can live from Ramen, I ordered the Vege Ramen and an order of something I never heard of Kimchi Jeon. Holy cow, Maruchen Noodles have lost their place in my heart. That was the real deal. The noodles weren't as delicate or big and fat as top ramen, they freaked out perfectly. The broth had exactly the right amount of heat and the egg up....okay, I have to stop. Maybe I have to go back tomorrow. The Kimchi Jeon is like a pancake with vegetables. It is delicate and tasty and the diving sauce so perfect I could drink it. I brought a few pieces home for my daughter and she said it tasted like a spring roll pancake. Everything was aesthetically pleasing and the price was $23.00 for everything. I know this review is long, but I can't say enough about Oya Sushi. My lunch buddy said I didn't even reach for the salt shaker... that never happens. Everything was fantastic. I was happy. My curiosity about Oya was satisfied, my belly was satisfied and my debit card has arrived a happy dance after the bill.
It's amazing, but because it's small, I want to tell people it's terrible. I always have a table. Korean fried chicken, chicken ramen and Sush all well. Had dinner for 8 people at about $100.
Best Korean food in Pitsburgh and wonderful sushi. For 10 minutes before closing ordered and they were super nice to make the food still. Great owners!
Very good food, all the different bento boxes and kimchi variations, very friendly staff.
