The Whiskey Bent Saloon is a timeless Nashville gem that still reigns supreme on the Broadway scene. Despite the new bars and big-name establishments, Whiskey Bent maintains its status as the top dog, and for good reason. I stumbled upon this bar years ago, and it never fails to draw me back in. While Broadway boasts a slew of trendy new bars with big names, it's the authenticity of Whiskey Bent that sets it apart. The sheer commercialization of some of these newcomers often results in overpriced $15 beers that fail to deliver a genuine, enjoyable atmosphere. In contrast, Whiskey Bent offers an unpretentious, down-to-earth experience that keeps me coming back time and time again. The classics are classic for a reason.
We loved this bar! We were buying $9 bottled beer on our way down Broadway only to end up here and get TALLBOYS for $6!! We stayed the rest of the evening, and came back the next night and didn't leave until ready to go home. They might not be charging as much as the others for beer, but they are smart because I guarantee you they're selling more for a better price! The only complaint I have, which isn't the bar's fault, is that the live band one of the nights we were there was asking for song requests for $20. Newly married, and on our honeymoon, we had a song in mind. We venmo'd the band $20 and waited over an hour for our song while he played multiple songs for multiple people handing him $20's. My husband went up to him and asked abt our request, he said he doesn't sing that artist , told me to pick a song by Brad Paisley. So I did. He said he doesn't sing that song. so I picked another. Same thing. Found it interesting that he could play every other request when the cash was infront of him. Should have just kept my $20 and bought more beer.
Fun place! All wooden everything. Drinks are reasonable. Kinda smaller wasn’t able to check out the upstairs or roof.
The Whiskey Bent Saloon was one of the older bars that I went to in Nashville. I would say it definitely draws less of a touristy crowd than some of the other larger bars on Broadway. The upstairs did not have good ventilation and there was a bit of a musty smell. I will say thought they did have the cheapest beer that I found on Broadway which was nice! I think the ownership should consider taking out or replacing the large taxidermy bear in the front. Its fur has heavily faded from the sun, and it has seen better days. The stairs to get up to the second level reminded me of a frat house and could also use some TLC.
