Rooster's - New Augusta

Rooster's is a charming roadside chicken shack, and I mean that in the best possible way. Located right on Highway 98 in New Augusta, just a few miles east of the intersection with Highway 49, it’s a must-stop if you’re traveling from Hattiesburg to Mobile. Their fried chicken is exceptional – truly some of the best you’ll find in the area. During my last visit, I noticed they had a fried pork chop lunch plate on the menu, but I couldn’t resist ordering the chicken once again. The sides are always delicious and fresh; I had green beans and rice with gravy during my last meal, and they were fantastic. The atmosphere is simple, featuring basic southern and soul food served with no frills – just a few tables, mismatched chairs, and some picnic tables outside under a shed. They also offer burgers and serve breakfast, which I’ve heard is excellent. Don’t let the unassuming exterior fool you; the food is genuinely good. Give it a try – you won't regret it!
