Asian Gateway Restaurant - NIGHTCLIFF

I used to love this place. Then it changed ownership and the new owners added pasta and some v non Asian dishes and the food was not as nice. We tried it on a whim and were pleasantly surprised. The dishes were all really lovely as was the service. Feel a little sad at how quiet it was (no one else was there) on a Saturday. My only negative is the prices on the dishes are a few dollars more than the norm.

It has always been a lovely experience going to the Asian Gateway Restaurant for a meal, the food is extremely tasty, the staff are exceptionally efficient and friendly and the ambience of the place is fantastic,the design of the place allows for people to actually communicate with each other without shouting, a major bonus!

Just had a lovely meal here. Surprisingly busy for mid week. Many customers seemed like loyal long term types. Always a good sign.I loved the fish cakes for entree. Had a lovely fresh taste to it. The prawn yellow curry was well flavoured, with tasty potatoes. The pineapple fried rice had that smoky taste that differentiates the average from the best fried rice.Will be back!

I had memories of this place because it was the first Thai RESTAURANT in Darwin. The food, i remembered, is as good as it was. And it had no music blaring. Nothing. It is a wonderful place to be intimate. You can hear each other's whispers. The food is better and service is complementary. A great restaurant to be.
