It looks like a typical local bar on a corner with nothing much to entice the tourist in. And it's in Derendorf which is one of the less chic districts of Dusselorf. But that's probably the point because this is very much a local bar. The food is hearty, German and exceptional. Their schnitzel and rotbarsch (sea bass-like) dishes are particularly outstanding. And they are under ten euros. Add a great range of alt and pilsner beers and you'll have a good night out here. You won't get far without at least some understanding of German and do ask before grabbing a table just in case it's a stammtisch (regulars' table). It might even look a little daunting at first. But if you want a genuine slice of lower income, West German, inner city life you'll get it here. And come away having had great food and beer at great prices.
