I had the baked scallops- came out raw. Took them back and the scallops were still disgusting. The scallops were in a water sauce. The twice baked potatoes...
I have dined at Oarweed three times in the past year, and each experience has ranged from fantastic to just okay. The level of service and food quality varies each visit. Sometimes there is a long wait for a table, while other times you are seated right away. The main attraction here is the beautiful waterfront view at Perkins Cove, which makes for a stunning backdrop while you dine. Timing your meal during sunset is a must for a special experience. The food can be hit or miss. Some dishes I've tried include seafood chowder (4/5), shrimp cocktail (3.5/5), and crab dip (6/5, but unfortunately removed from the menu due to the owner being too cheap to buy more crab - BRING BACK THE CRAB DIP!). The replacement, artichoke and spinach dip, was decent (3/5). Other dishes like the seafood trio (4/5), crab cakes (3.5/5), and blueberry beer (5/5) were enjoyable. Despite the inconsistent food quality, the picturesque setting alone makes it worth a visit.
This is the kind of restaurant that is vanishing slowly. It's authentic, genuine, and unapologetically emphasizes the quality of their food over ratings and reviews. We had an amazing experience and the best meal of our trip. Thank you, Oarweed. I highly recommend trying their lobster roll.
