The goal was quiche initially, but then there was a sign for Sunday brunch that run until 2 p.m. Since it wasn 't even 12:30 yet, we went with brunch.<br/ <br/ I was told that quiche was part of the brunch. So regardless of what we were going to eat, quiche was still on the menu and that was a good thing. : <br/ <br/ After walking inside, I was blown away by the size of this Marie Callendar 's. I 've never been to one of these restaurants that looked so big and nice. The other locations are very well kept, but there was something extra about this place. For once thing, there was a separate bakery section. Second, this Marie Callendar 's actually had a bar.<br/ <br/ I made my first trip to the brunch area for food. I noticed they had my favorite: eggs benedict. But because I was already in the mood for quiche I got a slice of that. The country potatoes were excellent. They had just the right amount of salt. And for comfort food, they had biscuits with country gravy. There were baked treats galore. At first, I thought this was it. I knew there was the salad bar with soup and a kids station with Uncrustables, chicken fingers, and french fries. I thought, 'Surely there must be more. ' Turns out there was, we just didn 't notice on our first trip. Down by the bar there was a full service omelette station along with shrimp ceviche, menudo, tacquitos, refried beans, chicken enchiladas, spanish rice, tortillas, and scrambled eggs with chorizo.<br/ <br/ I tried the ceviche, flour tortillas, and the scrambled eggs with chorizo. The scrambled eggs were very dry and there wasn 't much chorizo in them. I was disappointed. My grandmother used to make this dish a lot when I was younger and I absolutely loved it. Marie 's version didn 't even compare to my Grandmothers. The flour tortilla was a bit overcooked. It was a bit hard and didn 't bend well in order to pick up my eggs. The ceviche wasn 't as tart as I 've had at other places. The flavors of cilantro and chilis were more prominent. It was still good, just different than I 've had before. Not bad, just different.<br/ <br/ The service was good. The waitress took care of us by refilling our drinks frequently.<br/ <br/ I 'd definitely come back to this Marie Callendar 's.
The staff is horrible at this location. The service is extremely slow. The servers were huddling and chatting instead of working, the food took forever to come out of the kitchen, and then the order wasn't correct. No upselling at all. I was never asked if I wanted desert. The check was just dropped.
Very surprised to see how bad the reviews are for this location. For me, its a good place to have dinner, foods consistently good (just not their pies) and
So sad to write this, being as though marie calendars has been one of my favorite places to eatThis experience is far from sub par.
