We have eaten here a number of times and the food has always been decent, nothing to write home about, just decent.Today we decided that we would grab a bite since we had an appointment in the area. Ordered the quesadilla and the 1/2 turkey club sandwich special which came with soup and salad. One of things that bothers us about restaurants in general is paying for a thimble sized container of guacamole, not cool, it shouldn't cost you more, especially if they are giving you the same sized container as the sour cream and salsa. So shame on Kelsey's and all those other restaurants for trying to "up sell".However, today at this restaurant was a first when we asked what the soups were the server indicated it was the same two brocolli something and roasted red tomato. When we said the roasted sounded interesting, we were told that was a premium soup and it would cost more! We have never heard of premium soup before, it was a good thing the brocolli soup was good, we will never pay for premium soup, as we thing soup is soup, otherwise it's water. Shame on you Kelsey's, Premium soup, I don't think so.Choice between garden and caesar salad, we ordered the caesar salad, but maybe we should have order the premium salad, because it was nothing but lettuce ribs. If we wanted ribs we would have ordered them.Total for two meals, plus tip $35.We have noticed a decline in the service and the food, and this will probably be the last time we visit here, as there are so many other good places (e.g OCCO) to eat and we work too hard to have to pay premium prices for lack luster service and SOUP.
The food was either good or bad. My wife had the French Onion Soup, and, she loved it. She had ordred a coleslaw seperately, and, she didn't eat it. I tasted it, and, I didn't eat it either. The taste was definitely lacking. I had the burger and fries. The burger was good, but, the fries were a little too McDonald's. All in all, not a bad experience. We would give it another shot, maybe.
As I did not remembered why it had been so long before a return visit to this place, my memory was refreshed in short order. While the food was satisfactory, the overall atmosphere was very loud. Throw in a couple of families either unwilling or unable to keep their kids from screaming......well, you get the picture. I then remembered why I had not returned in so long. I really do not wish to give business to a restaurant that fails to ask families to keep it down or leave. That's it for Kelsey.
My husband and I always enjoy going to Kelsey's. We sat at the bar and had some drinks and appetizers. The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and know their customers. Asked for the bartenders opinion and she was honest and made suggestions. I strongly recommend this restaurant to anyone. The upgrade really opens up the restaurant, really like the change. Definitely will return.
