In the course of trying to find one place (I never did) I came across Sushi Shop. This is a hole in the wall operation on Sparks Street. It has a serving counter and very small number of tables. There is a sushi menu and a more general menu.It is clean and new-looking. In the few minutes I was there several people came in to order, so it clearly fills a market niche.I don't know much about Japanese food, but decided that I would venture beyond sushi, and ordered Seafood Tonkotsu ($9.95). This is apparently a common Japanese soup with noodles, sometimes called Hakata Ramen. It has a milky pork broth, and this version included seafood. The dish was served quickly, and I ate in the Sushi Shop. I found this to be an interesting dish. The needles are a thinner kind, unlike the thicker Udon noodles, which I like a lot.I enjoyed it, and it certainly was what I was looking for, not too heavy. If you are looking for quick Japanese food in downtown Ottawa, this is a good place to go.
I love misu soup so I walked in to have a quick lunch. Firstly, the staff are seriously lacking any personality and are not doing the shop any good. Two other customers came in and left without ordering because they were ignored. Hmmmmm. I should have left at that point! The staff kept urging me to choose from the ready made section but I wanted misu. The bowl of misu they picture on their menu looked a pretty good size but ended up being about half of what I expected. It tasted like water with a bit of seaweed thrown in to make it look authentic. The tempura shrimp pictured looked appetizing but ended up being straight as a pin and incredibly small shrimp inside all the non-tempura batter. It was more of a fish batter. All i could taste was the batter. I sat out on their patio yet they gave me everything in take-away containers. I asked for ice for my can of soda but they had none. Very disappointing. Considering the location, they are wasting their money being there.
A fast food version of an already fast food. The south keys Sushi shop location advertises in the window that they had ramen, so I decided to give it a shot while in the middle of Christmas shopping. My expectations were in check, because of the fast food nature of this chain (housed alongside Thai express), but I was pleasantly surprised. The presentation was not great. I received a messy bowl with uncomplicated ingredients - but it was tasty nonetheless. As generic a bowl of noodles as you could expect, it's mighty tasty and will satisfy your cravings if you decide to stop by. ---Broth (possibly from concentrate): 8/10 well balanced, delicious in its own right. Good to eat. Aburaage: 8/10 (deep fried tofu) a nice addition to the bowl. Good texture - no complaints. Bean sprouts: 10/10Raw and fresh. Not too many of them in the bowl and a nice crunch to have included as a garnish.Spring onions: 10/10 delicious and handled with care. Egg: 7/10 decent, yummy and hard to remember, in retrospect. Chicken: 7.5/10 in a place serving faster fast food, this was the obvious choice to throw in as the meat. It would require less prep time than pork belly, and was plenty tasty. Nori/fish cake/bamboo shoot: NAAll in all: 7/10. My personal feelings on ramen would object to it being served in a cafeteria style restaurant like this, it's already fast food - and shouldn't necessarily be made any faster. However, I think this place did a bang up job of offering a tasty entree-sized portion at a reasonable price, in 5 minutes flat. Well done, Sushi-shop
Otimo atendimento e otimo cardapio! Adorei e voltei varias vezes! Recomendo a visita para quem gosta de comida japonesa, ao oferece outras opções
I am an avid sushi eater. I love dragon rolls so for those who don't, shrimp tempura and avocado are the two main ingredients. I ordered drago rolls and was horribly disappointed. The rice was stale, the roll was tasteless and to make it even worse, the shrimp tempura was soggy and chewy. I wouldn't waste my time ever going back there.
