Hunan Garden Chinese - Oxnard

Inconsistent hours They post they are open until 9pm but close whenever they want... or they just don't want to serve my family. They always turn us away. First time they were closed by 7pm on a Sunday. Second time they did not want us to come in at 8:45pm. And today we called to make sure they were open and they said until 8:30pm. We show up at 7:55pm and said they close at 8pm. We just called 30 minutes prior. Still haven't tried their food, I guess my money is no good there.

I worked here for 6 weeks, the food was ok, but what I witnessed in the kitchen made me too disgusted to continue working at the Hunan Garden. There was cross contamination all over the kitchen, there were bugs crawling across the clean pans as I put them away. Jeffrey (the owner) never washed his hands, and he would only use a dirty wet towel to clean, egg, meat juice and whatever he cut on the work surfaces. I'm honestly surprised the health department hasn't shut down his establishment. For health reasons as well as others I quit after less than 2 months. Please for your own safety NEVER EAT HERE.

Hunan Garden was a great surprise!!! If you want a nice, super good food and really good price, this is the place! Affordable, plenty of flavor, abundant portions ?? We (2 adults 1 kid) went to Oxnard for a waterpolo tournament, in between games we had a window for have some food, we look the reviews and we said ?Let?s try it? Because it was weekend they have a ?Weekend and Holiday Menu? 3 options each one with around 5 dishes to select the prices from $8 10 less than $12 ?.. Omg it was delicious!!! ? they brought some really crunchy and tasty chips with sour&sweet aside, then a soup? uffff the broth and wontons were AMAZING!!!! And then our main dishes!!!! The 3 we ordered each one was RRREEEAAALYYYYY GOOD! Taste super good, warm, so well prepared and served. The service beside that Sunday they were short staff, they made a great effort and were super kindly. Definitely will come back!!!! It?s a place to stop by and bring home food when we are coming up north Cali!! Ps The menu for weekdays looks pretty extensive, yumi more options to taste and share!

Oh my god this place is so good. I live in downtown Ventura and drive all the way down to Oxnard just to eat here. I cannot recommend this restaurant any higher.

Service is top-notch and food is really delicious. Not to mention, they still have lunch specials under $10.00 and it's 2022 at the height of inflation. I don't know how anyone can beat that.
