However, after teasing residents all summer with renovations, a new cheap taqueria has finally opened just a block away from downtown! This new restaurant, located on the 8th Street and opened in October 2009, boasts a beautiful decor with a granite counter, elegant chandelier and fans, and a flat-screen television. Although the space is quite small with only about 14 seats, it offers a variety of menu items including standard fare like burritos and tacos, as well as enchiladas and shrimp plates. The owner, who also owns another Sanchos Taqueria in Redwood City, has brought their second store to downtown Palo Alto. While the prices may be slightly higher than other taquerias with mountain views, it's still a bargain for the downtown area. The best deal on the menu is probably the tacos at $1.65 each. Just a heads up, this place is cash only!
