We went back the next night and split the “That Dutchman’s Burger” and a “Drunken Sailor Burger” delicious, added bonus their French Fries/Chips (with Malt Vinegar are some of the best we’ve had in quite a while (attention to detail matters! . Our server was friendly, attentive and very cake persuasive ummm, Carrot Cake I didn’t particularly need to eat. The BlackRock Bistro is a must visit eatery in Parrsboro.
Really fabulous local spot that needs some staff. Stopped in around lunch to make reservations for supper in case it was too busy. Glad we did as they ended up blocking off tables to protect the kitchen (great move, but sad considering how amazing the food was), but overall service and food were outstanding. Hope the rumours about them closing in the fall do not come to fruition this town needs this restaurant....
I just had a margarita to cool down from the abnormal late May excessive heat after a long road trip. It's a cute little place and has a great reputation my innkeepers recommended it but I chose to go elsewhere for dinner. It's interesting that they're in the third oldest building in town (1856).
My wife and i were in Parrsboro this past weekend. We dined here on Friday night, i had the 2 piece fish and chips. It was very good, The halibut was fresh and the fries were well cooked and crispy. Service was good, attentive without being over bearing. The crab cakes were tasty as well. The decor is meh, But that doesn’t take away from the food and service which were excellent.
Great Sunday outing!. What a treat to find a bistro open in winter in a rural area. This was perfect for a great lunch. Blacj Rock is a small but pleasant venue with a limited but varied menu and great craft beer from Two Islands Brewery. They offer a free trade organic coffee from Just Us a Nova Scotian roaster. My meal started with a hot spicy parsnip soup, and my husband had a thick seafood chowder. The cups are a generous size. We both had very fresh tasting, deep fried haddock, and I was able to substitute a delicious Bistro salad for the fries. Our server Haley was very attentive without hovering. The Cafe was busy but we did not have to wait long.
