The best holiday of our life. we were a family of 5, 3 children 12, 10, 6. I am a hard fisherman, so I was most enthusiastic about the goldmedaille fly fishing, but the horses won my heart until the end of the week. the fishing was challenging because the wildfire washout silted and caused some mudy waters so it was not crystal clear. I swung big streamers and strip the fly like I fish for striper in new england. I landed a few big browns and had a great time. the child program for 7 had many rides and games and activities. Every day our older people were completely exhausted on good wise and had only hours of strata to tell us about their adventurous. the Buckaroo program 7 was still brilliant. on their horses they have a baptism with guided rides. we had the pleasure of making a loping lection during one of our little young, who drove with him and we ended up walking around with him a bit. the buckaroos must feed the goats, swim, crafts and play with the super friendly children's athletes. the ride was absolutely incredible. you come together with your horse all week and move through country. the breakfast trip on Wednesday was unforgettable because they do it with their children when they are old enough to drive on their own 7. we decided on Saturday to make the root beer boat ride with the children to parshall and that was also a great time. Cabins are rustic, not fancy, but have everything they need. Don't worry about your cabin when you're like us, you'll not spend 99% of your watch hours in the cabins. eating was great, had a good sort for the week. Some meal times I remember were: steak garnel, bison short ribs, rainbow trout, burger dogs, prime rib, tacos, and cheris flying blueberry pancakes, etc. the boat barn was where they can borrow some used cowboy boot hats. they also had tons of sunblock there, so that they were driving in front of all their sons very intensively in the height, not skipping sunblock. the water to drink is a natural source, it tasted great and we drank gallons per day. Drink them always water, that is not sweat if they do not drink water a tonne they become sick. the height and the sun dehydrate them super fast to 8,000 ft height. they only drink tons and feel good. we come back to 100% and just try to decide if I bring my parents next time. tipps: take the ride with cheri, it was all they needed to learn about riding their horses to have a pleasant week. take the loping lessons and get certified to do some moderate adventure rigs, they are so much fun and they can not beat the landscape especially cowboy canyon . beat the local fly shops that we have made in estes park grand lake in the opposite and ask them what the trout eat. there are flying for sale in the gift shop at the ranch, but some local knowledge of what hot was very useful. usually bring long sleeved UV shirts and lightweight flexible pants when they go in summer. I wore some prana rock climbing pants almost every day riding, but always used my full sleeved hood fishing to protect from the hot sun on a longer ride.
Our family had a great time in the bar Lazy J Guest Ranch! The children's program was so fun to do with a variety of activities every day. The guides, wranglers, horses and location were all top notch. This is the perfect place to experience an active holiday with a family!
Top 3 vacations of my life. The best vacation with my whole family. Very recommended as a perfect balance of adults vacation with the excitement they create for the children. Staff go the extra mile and you can feel the passion of the owners.
The Bar Lazy J continues to be absolutely amazing. It is everything that you would want in a guest ranch experience and more. Located on the banks of one of Colorado 's premier fly fishing streams, the main attraction is horseback riding. However, there are a ton of other activities (axe throwing anyone? The staff is uniformly friendly and professional. You can drop your kids with the counselors after breakfast and not see them again until dinner. They will have the time of their lives.Speaking of which, the food is excellent. Even if you do not ride, you should go to the breakfast ride feast. Every evening there is a different activity so you always wanted to learn to line dance well this is your opportunity. A caveat part of the philosopy of the ranch is leave technology behind. The cabins are very comfortable, but rustic no electronics of any kind. And cell phone use is discouraged. All in all a wonderful experience.
