Fantasy Frostings - Pasadena

We worked with Fantasy Frostings for our wedding in October 2022. We LOVED the tasting process and this was one of the most fun vendors to work with. Final cake was absolutely perfect and a huge hit at the event. Truly look forward to working with Fantasy Frostings again in the future!!

I stumbled upon Fantasy Frosting for a last minute family birthday cake. The cake was good and when our next celebration came up we decided to use them again. I emailed with plenty of time in advance and the owner asked me to come in to iron out the details. I let her know when to expect me and came with my toddler. I thought it would be a quick appointment to put down a deposit but instead I had to wait awhile which was fine. What was not fine was how RUDE Leslie was. I met with Leslie about a very simple cake for a child's birthday. I had emailed pictures so she knew what I was looking for. The baker came out from the back to assist me since I was holding my child and waiting for Leslie and said it was easy peasy, not a problem. Then Leslie dismissed her to take over and finish out my order. I agreed to the astronomical price she wanted to charge me, I agreed to any alterations that needed to be made to make the cake I was requesting including providing any of the embellishments for the design so all that was left was simply assembling the cake and some simple piping. I was about to pay the deposit when after 45 mins Leslie tells me that she knows when she doesn't want to work with someone and that she doesn't wish to work with me. I was so pleasant and accommodating to her even though she spoke so harshly and aggressively to me throughout my entire encounter with her. As I left she laughed about it to another customer. I was absolutely shocked and saddened that someone was ok treating another person that way. I've worked with plenty of vendors both personally and professionally and I've never experienced someone going out of their way to be so unkind. It all worked out in the end as I found the kindest and most talented cake sisters to work with. I will never recommend this place to anyone because no one deserves to be treated so poorly.

Heather was really nice and helpful. The location wasn’t busy they were closing. The location was clean and cakes look yummy. Got a flight to try the flavors. The chocolate cake has white frosting. The cakes are beautiful. The white satin is delicious. The cream brûlée was ok. Strawberry champagne would be better with fresh strawberries. Confetti cakelets are better than the slice confetti cake. If you need a cake for special occasion definitely check it out.

Fantasy used to make the most delicious baked treats (including gluten free , but it appears that they have switched over to only making super expensive cakes. Okay, that is super disappointing, but it is their right to change. What isn't okay is speaking aggressively to a customer on the phone. After emailing over a week prior about ordering a specialty cake and not hearing back I called to inquire. The woman who answered stated that they don't check their email everyday, but then, who does? Umm almost every successful business owner? The woman then proceeded to tell me, with obvious attitude, that there was no way she could take my order because it was less than two weeks prior to the event. Well, if the email had been answered, that would not have been a problem. There are too many other bakery options out there to deal with nasty customer service. (P.S. We were able to find three bakeries who could make our cake in the timeline requested. And, the event planner who the surprise party was for, has deleted Fantasy from her vendor list.

As I read the glowing reviews, I feel like Kate McKinnon's character, Mrs. Rafferty in the SNL alien abduction skit. (YouTube the skit) My experience was very negative. The staff person had my sister and I wait 10 minutes as she worked with a customer/friend chatting about personal issues. We were not acknowledged until the friend left. We inquired about cakes for a 100 person party. She gave us very terse answers and did not seem interested in our business. This was confirmed when she quoted us $500 for a half sheet cake. Leaving shocked, we then went to Takes the Cake and received excellent service. We ordered two beautiful and delicious 1/2 sheet cakes for $110 each.
