Yesterday, September 20th, I ordered a side dish (to-go) of grilled chicken. When I got home and opened it, I was very disappointed. The Chicken was so charred and burnt. BLACK all around the edges.Burnt or Charred meat is a well known carcinogenic. It 's called Heterocyclic Amines; Which has been linked to increased risk of these cancers: Solorectal Cancer, Stomach Cancer, and Pancreatic Cancer. It 's when a piece of meat is cooked way too long on high heat causing the meat to become black.I brought it back the very next day to show them. When I opened up the container, I said to the cook (might be the owner) that the chicken is burnt, black and extremely dry. His reaction was deplorable, he yelled at me in front of other patrons and co-workers. He said; Lady, that 's what Grilled Chicken is supposed to look like. Well, I come from a long line of cooks from decades passed.....I know the difference between grilled chicken and BURNT DRY chicken. Grilled Chicken should have a light golden color, unlike the picture below~So he angrily whipped off his gloves, roughly opened the register, and started taking out the money that the chicken cost. He slammed down money, while still saying out real loud that the chicken was cooked perfectly~! I could not believe the rage in his voice, and how unprofessionally he responded. A good chef would have offered to replace the chicken...His poor and unprofessional reactions are inexcusable in any environment, especially in Food Service.Let me also add to my disappointing experience at Marano 's (located in West Peabody-previously known as Lupo 's)....while I was waiting for the food, a young girl that was working behind the counter had gloves on...while waiting for the deep fryer food to cook, she was putting her gloved fingers in her ears as if to itch them, she was also playing with long front braided hair.Ewwwwwww~! So I discretely told a co-worker that she may want to tell her to change her gloves after itching her ears playing with her braid. Her response: We change our gloves a lot. Yuck, is that before or after she sticks her fingers in her ears and caresses her hair-?? That is so unsanitary~Let me share with you what I learned many years ago when I worked in food service; If a customer likes a restaurant, they may tell a handful of people, but if someone has a bad experience at a food place, like I did, they 're going to tell a whole LOT of people.....
I got a chicken marsala with ziti. It came in a big container. However, the plate was mostly pasta. There was very little chicken, mushroom, ham. It tasted fine, but was very little food.
