We visited Stone House late in the season, understandably, they did not have their entire menu available. Not enough staff to deal with the massive dinner they fought with. Stonehouse 1891 is a great restaurant/bar on the island of Pelee. Great place to catch a view of Lake Erie. Food is on the expensive side. My friend and I had coconut shrimp, poutins, chicken bread pizza and mushroom truffle pizza. Yarn was acceptable, typical roasted shrimp with sweet Thai chili sauce. The poutin was acceptable. Real cheese. Our pizzas took a long time to get out. We got them to go, but they ate when we came back to the camp. Taste wasn't great. I think the dough needs more salt, and the next time to order them well, because I think these pizzas were baked. I think $18-20 for a less than 12 pizza is no great value. We got no water or our cocktails for 20-30 minutes. My friend's frozen mojito was delicious. My coffee drink was okay, kind of watery. The shrimps and poutins came out after a short wait, but we waited for at least 40 minutes on pizza. We arrived at 545 a.m. and we're only gone at 8:00 a.m. I would like to praise the staff in Stone House, I was informed that the staff were weakened to work underoccupied. I intend to check this facility closer to the high season. Despite this experience I intend to return, it is a picturesque place to stop for a drink.
The view from the outdoor terrace is beautiful. There is not much parking, but it is just 5 minutes walk from the ferries. The service after the order was somewhat slow, but the food is good price and delicious. You have a beer float for $10 consisting of 3 sample size beer. I recommend this when you try to taste some of the local Ontario beers.
Average bar. Many articles were not available due to supply bottlenecks. I ordered a club sandwich that was very dry. The fish dishes looked better, but they had a limited amount. Drinks were the highlight. Cocktails were great.
Among the few restaurants on the island, this restaurant is definitely the best in terms of vibe and views. With live music goes and right by the lake, we really enjoyed my time here. The food was excellent, but the prices are crazy. When the $17 Margherita pizza came out, I was a little shocked how small the part was! For a big eater like me, I might need at least 3 of those who feel full. But I was the taste amazing, really the feeling of being made in stone oven. The chicken wings were so good, sauce was a little like korean bbq (sweet and spicy) and increased the taste of the wings. Potatoes were produced locally and fresh coke was amazing. Calamari also came in very small portions, but were really good. Overall, I recommend this if you want to enjoy good food, but be ready to order much more than you think you need.
I had dinner here on my first visit to Pelee Island and it was absolutely amazing! The food and the service was exceptional. I also took the Arrive and Revive Tour, although pricey, if you are a history buff, you will really appreciate it. The flight of local beer was a special part of it also. I highly recommend the trip!
