We were told it was a carvery, but instead were given an A4 sheet of paper with tick boxes to choose from. No one provided any explanation or assistance, making the experience impersonal and unfriendly. The swede and mashed potato were both cold, and one person in our group received a very small portion compared to the rest of us. When we asked for more carrots, we were told they had run out despite more guests being booked in after us. We requested more gravy to warm up the food, but received no apologies, only a promise to inform the chef. It was disappointing that the staff seemed disinterested and did not check in with us throughout the meal. The building itself had been nicely refurbished and featured a beautiful log burner, but the lack of attentive service was a major letdown. As locals looking to support local businesses, we were sadly not eager to return.
Walked in at 7:45. No one came to greeted us and when we asked for a table, the bar lady asked the chef. We could see the chef was not happy that we had walked in and we were told to order quickly (At 7:45 on a Friday night). Asked for the pie of the day which was meant to be steak and ale. When it came it was chicken and leek. The mash was awful and the pie was VERY bland. No one came to check on how the food was and when paying they didn’t ask anything about the food and just took payment. The staff seemed more interested in chatting than serving customers. Will not be going back and would not recommend.
Great food. Well done Jess,Beth stepping up and cooking allowing the hard working chefs to have a well deserved rest. As always great service considering it was very busy. Everyone worked very hard.
We had a fantastic evening at this restaurant. The Hunters chicken and pie of the day were delicious. There was a small delay in getting our food, but the staff were very apologetic and attentive. We were informed that they were short-staffed in the kitchen. The homemade food had generous portion sizes. The desserts, cheesecake, and profiteroles were also very good, although we were unsure if they were homemade. The restaurant is only a 5-minute drive from Bluestone Resorts, making it convenient for us. If we lived nearby, we would definitely return.
I recently revisited this restaurant for Sunday lunch with a group of 8 people. The service was fantastic, with the team being very accommodating. The food was incredible, with a great selection of meats (the lamb was especially delicious) and all the trimmings. I highly recommend this place!
