It was 9.30 so the initial rush had gone and the dining room was pretty empty, unfortunately so were the buffet food areas! There were lots of people queuing for food that would arrive in minute quantities that were taken immediately by the people waiting. There was no bread for toast, the toaster didn't toast the toast and if you put it through twice it burnt it. The place was entirely understaffed with one poor girl who clearly couldn't cope. In the end we gave up on the cooked breakfast had 2 slices of toast (burnt) a small coffee and left. Visited the Gents on the way out that had no hand towels and the electric dryer was not working.
Booked imperial hotel for my wife’s special birthday, looking at the photo on their website, which looked great. Went to check in at 3 pm and I was told our room was not ready for another 40 minutes, when this has happened at another hotel, they usually say we,lol get you tea or coffee while we get your room ready and sorry it’s not ready yet. Instead receptionist said we could go for walk and come back in 40 minutes. Well, we came back checked in and went up to our room which was nothing like what it looks like in their brochure, It was very small room, the bathroom was so small we couldn’t even put soap bags in there and the show, well I it was so slow, I could wee faster. Paid for breakfast £40 for two morning breakfasts, first morning we went for our breakfast, there was very little choice of food, no fresh fruit and no pastries, only scrambled egg, no other eggs available, cold beacon, bean. Very poor choice. Service was very poor too. Would not stay there ever again. Over all very poor hotel. No parking
We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights with our doggy and the hotel was great and the staff very friendly. It was s shame that the roof terrace was shut as it would have been great. Our sea view room was a really good size, but it probably needed a bit of updating. Needed a lick of paint, new curtains etc. The best thing about our room was the EPIC view. Can overlook the other stuff, just for that view.
Booked in for Sunday lunch, with some friends who were staying there and had a 60th birthday to celebrate. On arrival in the restaurant a jazz band were playing, they were located within a small area where the diners were seated. The music was too loud to sit and chat and as we were celebrating it made things a bit difficult. We were sat for at least 40 minutes before we were able to ask a waitress if she could take our orders. The menu on the table apparently was the wrong one and no starters were available! We all ordered and asked if we could have the wine list, this took time to arrive and even more for someone to come back and take our order. So almost an hour passed, we asked the waiter when we would receive any food and was told “you are next, show some patience!” The wine arrived with food shortly after. We all had beef all but one who opted for pork. The beef was the extremely thin beef you can buy cooked in supermarkets , not carved but it seemed to be the formed stuff. Tasteless, no wonder there was a big Yorkshire sat on top, as well as the thin pieces of beef there were 2 smallish roasties, a small dessert spoon of carrot/potato mash, same size portion of cauliflower and broccoli cheese and a very thin gravy. Absolutely shocking! I will say the roast pork was a slice of carved pork with a piece of crackling. We all ordered strawberry cheesecake, clearly out of the freezer, little flavour and extremely soggy base. So, food wise extremely poor and had it not been my friends 60 th birthday lunch I most certainly would have tackled all the issues at the time, including the rude waiter. We are a group that meet to dine out regularly in Pembrokeshire, we will not be returning to The Imperial Hotel.
During our week in Tenby we had lunch here a couple of times and found the food to be very good, the staff were helpful and really pleasant and the hotel has a great outdoor sunny terrace with views across North Beach and St. Catherine's Island. Dogs allowed in the bar and on the terrace.
