Played the Links course yesterday and couldn't believe how terrible the course conditions were. The tee boxes were bare and greasy, in fact I slipped twice, and the fairways were brown and dusty. This course used to be a pleasure to play, but after yesterday's experience I may never go back. P.S. The bridge that accesses #1 and #18 has been broken for quite some time, and apparently there are no plans to fix it until October. So much for Swaneset being a first class golf course.
This is a lovely restaurant with two excellent dining options, beautiful views, and reasonable prices. Although it may be a bit out of the way, it is definitely worth the trip.
This was an ideal setting for a romantic wedding. The only negative was the distance for those travelling from Vancouver. Beautiful setup with a scenic backdrop for exchanging your vows. Wedding ceremony, photos, reception and buffet dinner were all smooth and seamless.
My wife and I had a terrific time playing one of the two fabulous courses at Swaneset. We are from Belfast and were staying in Vancouver for our summer holiday. We had played the course around 14 years ago and in March this year I wrote to the club and asked if they could give us a tee time in July as the time sheet was unavailable on line at that time. Steve Knotts, the Tournament Coordinator wrote back the same day and organised a tee time. Terrific service, great staff and a wonderful course.
I grew up playing this course in the late 90's (97-98 mostly) probably have played over 500 rounds here. I visited for the first time in about 20 years. Not much (if any) updating has been done. The place has kind of just been left to rot. It's still in decent shape, the greens were good, and the course condition was average but the building and the experience isn't what it used to be. They used to drive you up to the building, greet you, etc. None of that anymore. I was so excited to tell the people in the shop that I was back after 20 years and both could care less, the just asked for my money. It was disappointing and sad for me. I doubt I'll come back here to play again for a long time if ever.
