I will say one of the managers came out and asked people to stand out of the lobby and to go outside and wait. (It was cold! But we got lucky and snagged a spot on the bench. The food, drinks, and service was overall amazing. Definitely a great experience for us.
Busy Sunday but the wait was only 5 minutes. Sat at the bar. We ordered two Spanish coffees and chicken/waffles with a side of white cheddar grits. Top items: grits and coffee. Average: The chicken was cooked perfectly but a little under seasoned and the waffles was very dense (had to use steak knife to cut). Serve was excellent.
Finally got a chance to dine in here! Wait time was about 20 minutes. Nice dining area, our waitress was great. The food was good. Could have been better. I had the Blackened Salmon with White Cheddar grits and sautéed spinach. The salmon lacked seasoning and the ‘blackened’ look/taste I was expecting but it was still good. The grits were very tasty! I wish I would’ve ordered more. The spinach was a nice touch but seemed more like an afterthought with this meal combination. I appreciate the contrast and effort, I appreciate the way the spinach was prepared and not over cooked. I think a better pairing would be a bigger piece of salmon over the grits with a garnish topping sauce. My friend had Chicken and Waffles that comes with side of collard greens (which are surprisingly good) the waffle was underwhelming as far as taste and size according to my friend. The chicken was also a lot smaller than I’ve seen in other pictures and didn’t make up for lack of size from waffle. Bonus: Baked French Toast This is an acquired taste for a lot of people. Has the consistency and texture of bread pudding. I enjoyed this and ate the entire thing myself! Stuffed with cream cheese and berries. Overall I was pleased with the meal and experience but slightly unimpressed.
Worth the wait!! French Toast Bistro is on the Simi smaller side; however, they make up for it in food, atmosphere, and wonder staff!!! If you are looking for a place to try new, this is it!! Breakfast Brunch or lunch, they have it all!!! Need that drink with a special touch make sure to try the chi tea shot along with the amazing Mamosas.Get there early and make sure you ask for Brittany she is fantastic and knows how to take care of her customers!! You will love her. I promise. Don't wait go try them!!!!! And yes they have a kids menu! So it can be a family thing or just a great place to meet with the guys or girls!
The cheese board was amazing! But the cheesecake was the best I had in long time. The waiter told us it’s made fresh everyday, and you can really tell by the crust. The ambience was good, but the music didn’t match up. I would definitely recommend this place!
